Plus, where do the Bills rank among the teams most likely to trade up or down in the first round?

For teams with Super Bowl aspirations like the Buffalo Bills that are up against the NFL’s salary cap, finding cheap, young talent that can both contribute right away and in the future are among some of the keys to having a successful NFL Draft.

With five selections among the first 132 picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft and 10 picks overall, the Bills can use the draft to address their roster needs, and in today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks, we lead off with thoughts on what the Bills need to do to ace the draft.

Keys to a successful draft for the Buffalo Bills

The Bills have needs at boundary cornerback, defensive tackle, and wide receiver. While general manager Brandon Beane has shown a willingness to move up or down the draft board based on who interests him, the first key to a successful draft class is to not overthink it at pick No. 30 and select either the best cornerback or defensive tackle prospect.

What are some of the other keys to success? Not waiting on adding a cornerback (since Buffalo really doesn’t have a valid CB2 on its roster); finding a way to land a big-bodied, one-technique defensive tackle like Michigan’s Kenneth Grant or Oregon’s Derrick Harmon; wheeling and dealing with later picks to reacquire a third-round selection; and drafting a speedy young wide receiver for quarterback Josh Allen.
