How important is it for teams to get the one seed? Sound off!

Welcome back to our weekend chat, Buffalo Bills fans.

The Buffalo Bills are one game back of the one seed in the AFC, and they’ve said their goal is the one seed, but how important is it? In 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs came into Buffalo and beat the Bills in the playoffs.

I’ve got a few bits of historical info, and then I want your rake.

In 2023, the Baltimore Ravens lost in the conference championship game to the Chiefs in Maryland while the San Francisco 49ers ran the one seed to the Super Bowl.

In 2022, both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl.

In 2021, the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers both lost their only playoff game after securing the one seed.

In 2020, the Chiefs made the Super Bowl but the Green Bay Packers fell at home to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.

In 2019, the 49ers made the Super Bowl but the Baltimore Ravens lost their only playoff game despite being the top dog in the AFC.

In 2018, the New Orleans Saints and Chiefs both lost in their conference championship games.

So I’ve shown you that having home-field advantage isn’t as important as who your team is. So do you still think it matters? I don’t.

The Bills have won in Kansas City; they are 3-1 in their last four trips. The fourth in that series was a game where they had the lead with 13 seconds left in the game. Without some boneheadedness on the sideline, the Bills would be 4-0 in their last four in Missouri. I’m much more interested in the Bills resting their starters for most of the game in Week 18 than securing the one seed, but if it comes down to it, you know they’ll go all-out.

Welcome to the weekend, Buffalo Bills fans. After a long week, it’s time to blow off a little steam. Use this thread to talk about... well, whatever it is you’d like to talk about. Maybe you’d like to share a cool story from your week.
