Are the Buffalo Bills closer to dominant or mid?

Welcome back to our weekend chat, Buffalo Bills fans.

After three weeks, the Buffalo Bills were flying high. They were at or near the top of NFL power rankings after their second consecutive blowout win, and at 3-0 were on top of the AFC East and conference.

Then Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens absolutely blew them out, Buffalo’s first multi-score loss in three years. Nothing went right on defense and despite a valiant effort to claw back into the game, a disastrous trick play was the final nail in the coffin for a misfiring offense.

I’ve seen a remarkable amount of restrain from Bills fans, who haven’t been talking about the sky falling in Buffalo this week. That’s refreshing. I think part of it is this is sort of what we were expecting heading into the season with a revamped roster. Especially after the injuries on defense, we knew there would be growing pains on that side of the ball. We knew there would be a couple missteps on offense without their top two receivers and starting center from a year ago.

So today, it doesn’t feel like hot take time. It just feels like we need to recalibrate our expectations after the first month of the season. I don’t think the Bills are as good as they looked in their 3-0 start and I don’t think the Bills are as bad as they were in Week 4. So let’s set those as our data points.

Are the Bills closer to the 3-0 dominating team or the 0-1 hamburger meat?

I think this Buffalo roster is closer to the 3-0 team than the 0-1 team, and they’re going to win many more games than they lose. The Ravens did things other teams aren’t going to be able to do consistently and especially with the immediate demoralization the Bills went through on Sunday night with the long touchdown run, it showed a lot of grit just to claw back in the third quarter.

The Bills sit atop the AFC East and the rest of the division looks like it is in shambles. If they win more games than they lose, they have a great shot of hosting a playoff game with a hopefully healthy defense, a bunch more experience and cohesiveness from their new pieces, and experienced play-callers on both sides of the ball. And they have the early frontrunner for MVP in Josh Allen.

Does anyone want to make the case that they are closer to the team that was blown out in Baltimore? Hit up the comments below with your takes.

Feel free to chat about this or anything else you might like in the comments section for the weekend. This is your place for fellowship.
