Buffalo Bills 2024 training camp: Day 8 open thread

Back on the fields for their final week at St. John Fisher University in 2024, the Bills are preparing for the coming preseason

The Buffalo Bills are back in Rochester, NY following their annual “Return of the Blue & Red” scrimmage in front of fans at Highmark Stadium on Friday. Results coming out of that session revealed a strong showing by the defense, with cornerbacks Kaiir Elam and Taron Johnson nabbing interceptions.

While there were struggles early on, the offense finished Friday’s scrimmage strong in red zone work. Fans in the stands and social media were abuzz over Tyler Bass’ missed field goal, which was anything other than a given make. Sal Capaccio noted that rookie punter Jack Browning, who has now been released, was holding for Bass.

It’s another sweltering hot day on the campus of St. John Fisher University, with the team hitting the field at 11:45 a.m. EDT — the only later practice of this year’s camp. Head coach Sean McDermott met with local media ahead of Sunday’s session and provided a list of players set to miss practice today.

To offset the new injuries at linebacker, the Bills signed linebacker Shayne Simon and released defensive end David Ugwoebu.

Below is a list of the team’s remaining training camp practices:

  • August 5 (Monday) — 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. EDT (CLOSED TO PUBLIC)
  • August 6 (NO PRACTICE)
  • August 7 (Wednesday) — 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. EDT
  • August 8 (Thursday) — 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. EDT

To attend each practice, a ticket (which are free) is required for each entrant. As a reminder, tickets sold out quickly during the initial on-sale at the end of June. Shuttle and parking information can be found here — please note that there is no general parking available on the Fisher campus. Alternately, you can find parking within the neighborhoods adjacent to the University, but be prepared to pay a premium for the convenience.
