Have you seen the latest alternate helmet Josh Allen wore for tonight’s scrimmage?

It’s Friday, and the Buffalo Bills are back home in Orchard Park, NY for the day, taking part in their annual “Return of the Blue & Red” 11-on-11 team scrimmage. We’ll use this space as a means to bring you the sights and sounds making the rounds of social media over the course of this evening’s practice session.

There’s just one more week left at St. John Fisher University for this year’s training camp. On Friday, they’ll pack things and head back to One Bills Drive to close out their summer in preparation of the preseason and 2024 NFL regular season.

Several players will not practice today, including running back Ty Johnson (hamstring), wide receiver Chase Claypool (toe), rookie offensive lineman Travis Clayton (shoulder), and veteran offensive lineman La’El Collins (knee). Also out are safeties Mike Edwards (hamstring) and rookie Cole Bishop (shoulder) — with both players on a week-to-week basis for their return to the gridiron.

What everyone wanted to know is which helmet quarterback Josh Allen would wear when he ran out on the field. First there was the red Super Bowl-era throwback, then Allen donned a flashy blue version last summer. His latest look? A matte black helmet with the classic red standing buffalo — and a sinister Oakley mirrored visor.

And here, finally, Bills Mafia’s first chance to see rookie wide receiver in full uniform:

You can be certain that tonight is a special one for Gable Steveson who, with zero football background, puts on his first full uniform to play in front of thousands of fans.

The team is off tomorrow, and will return to Rochester, NY for a 9:45 a.m. EDT practice on Sunday, August 4 at Fisher.

Including Sunday’s session, there are just three more days of training camp this summer that the public can attend. The Bills will close their 24th year at Fisher on Thursday, August 8 with a 9:45 a.m. EDT practice.
