Simon joins the Bills after collegiate stops at Notre Dame and Pitt — while Doyle now faces the prospect of starting over in a new city
The Buffalo Bills have signed undrafted free-agent linebacker Shayne Simon, and designated offensive lineman Tommy Doyle as waived/injured.
Simon joins the Bills after a collegiate career at Pittsburgh. The 6’2”, 230-pound, 24-year-old linebacker spent the last two seasons playing for the Pitt Panthers after four years at Notre Dame.
Upon his transfer to Pittsburgh Simon found a better opportunity. With Pitt, Simon made 94 tackles (52 solo), 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, plus one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

For Tommy Doyle, it marks the end of his career with the Buffalo Bills. An offensive lineman who once held a wealth of promise, Doyle’s time at One Bills Drive was marred by multiple injuries — including a torn ACL in 2022, and a knee injury during preseason action in 2023 that cost him the entire season.
Doyle’s most memorable play came against the New England Patriots during the Bills’ AFC Wild Card playoff game on January 15, 2022. During that game’s fourth quarter, Tommy Doyle caught a touchdown from quarterback Josh Allen.
Seemingly unable to get back on the gridiron at this point in time, Doyle must now look for his next opportunity outside Orchard Park, NY. Carrying a waived/injured designation informs the NFL about Doyle’s injury. He now becomes eligible for the league’s waiver wire, where he may either be claimed or enter free agency should no team submit a claim.
