This past week we asked for you to reflect and consider whether or not the Bills made out like winners or losers during the 2024 NFL Draft. When the dust had settled, the Bills had selected 10 rookies after making a pair of trades in Round 1 that took them out of the round altogether.
It’s difficult assigning too significant a grade to rookie class and draft that’s just over a week old. It may also be too soon to suggest which teams made out like winners, and those who exited draft weekend losers. Some that struggled stand out more than others — such as the situation that transpired with the Atlanta Falcons. There are others who didn’t appear to nail their draft, such as the Dallas Cowboys and more than a few head-scratching selections.
As for the Buffalo Bills, most pundits tend to lump One Bills Drive among a very crowded “B” crowd. That mark suggests that Buffalo did well enough during this year’s draft.
But what about among Buffalo Rumblings readers? Did you all find enough reason to claim the Bills left the Motor City winners? Was it too much to bear watching them trade back twice instead of selecting any of the receivers who went off the board from pick 28 to pick 32?
No one circles the wagons like Bills Mafia. That’s true even when it comes to the NFL Draft. Pay no mind to the Kansas City Chiefs drafting wide receiver Xavier Worthy with Buffalo’s original pick. The Bills managed to move back into Round 3 thanks to their trade with the Chiefs. Moving back one pick in a trade with the Carolina Panthers did no harm to them at all, unless you have qualms about fifth-year options for rookies.
According to our poll, most of you (84%) believe the Buffalo Bills came out winners in the draft. They drafted an X receiver in Keon Coleman, added a talented safety in Cole Bishop, and infused their defensive line by adding defensive tackle DeWayne Carter with their first three picks — all on Day 2 of this year’s event.
I guess the wings are on One Bills Drive this week, y’all!
