A decorated collegiate and Olympic wrestler, Stevenson enters the fold at One Bills Drive with opportunity in front of him
The Buffalo Bills have signed Olympic gold medal wrestler Gable Stevenson. The decorated freestyle and folkstyle wrestler also spent time in professional wrestling as part of the WWE.
To make room for Steveson, the Bills released punter Matt Haack. Their current roster remains at 91 players, which includes offensive lineman Travis Clayton, an International Pathway Program player who was selected by Buffalo in Round 7 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Steveson previously visited One Bills Drive on May 15.

In Steveson, the Bills are banking on potential, and elite traits that hopefully translate to a productive go as an NFL player. The challenge for Steveson will be that he brings no official football experience to the fold. As such, where he slots in and what position(s) he may compete at for snaps remains uncertain at this time.
Perhaps similar to Clayton — himself someone with no true organized football game experience — Steveson may be best viewed as a developmental prospect likely battling for a spot on the Bills’ practice squad. Unlike Clayton, there is no exemption in place for Steveson in regards to roster numbers.
Gable Steveson is without a doubt an intriguing prospect, standing 6’1” and weighing 265 pounds. Wrestling collegiately at the University of Minnesota, Steveson finished his four-year Gophers career with an 85-2 record. Competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which were postponed until the summer of 2021), Steveson earned a gold medal for Team USA in Men’s Freestyle Wrestling.
