Now embracing the spotlight that accompanies superstardom, Allen was set to appear this week on a national show.
With superstardom attached to his name, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s latest media appearance was slated to be on “The Today Show” on NBC this week. Rumors initially swirled he would appear on the program Monday morning for the Sunday Night Football announcement.
That was debunked when NBC only had Mike Tirico and announced one game.
Then, the local NBC affiliate in Buffalo announced Allen would appear for a full hour on Wednesday, May 14, which also happens to be when the 2025 NFL regular-season schedule is announced in full. The segment featuring Allen was revealed to be titled “Catching up with Josh Allen.”
Tuesday morning, the NBC affiliate and local beat reporters once again shared the news that Allen would not be on national TV after all. The two sides are working on an appearance in the future.
As it appears now that Allen won’t be part of NBC’s NFL schedule release, if and when he does appear on the morning program there will be plenty to discuss. Beyond just the upcoming season for Allen and the Bills you can bet Hollywood will play a role in the eventual morning’s conversation.
How did Josh Allen reach this level of stardom?
If you were to ask Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen what he hoped to find upon landing in Western New York back in 2018, he’d likely tell you something not too different from his roots in Firebaugh, CA. A small-town boy at heart, Allen didn’t crave the spotlight that often accompanies the very best in his sport. He simply wanted to find the right fit that allowed him to feel like he was home.
Those in Bills Mafia know his story well by now, a former zero-star recruit who couldn’t catch a Division I football scholarship to save his life out of high school. Settling on tiny Reedley College before transferring to Wyoming, Allen was a polarizing prospect during the 2018 NFL Draft cycle — but to most he was a prospect widely viewed as a project at quarterback, at best.
Seven seasons on, Josh Allen is now the reigning NFL MVP, a man re-writing the Bills’ franchise record books with almost each game that passes. Allen’s even graced the cover of the Madden NFL video game franchise. To say Allen’s ascendance is monumental is a massive understatement — and with that comes celebrity. The spotlight has found a once-reluctant Allen.
Josh Allen is now one of the NFL’s preeminent icons, and he’s yet to turn 30 years old. Allen is set to marry celebrity actress/singer Hailee Steinfeld this year, having proposed to her in a private setting during Buffalo’s bye week in 2024. The boy that wanted nothing more than to find similar roots in his NFL home is quickly becoming an A-list celebrity among those who don’t even follow football.
Earlier in 2025, Josh Allen entered into a partnership with Skydance Sports, LLC, which will see him variously involved with studio and cinematic productions, as well other endeavors in the coming years. The first among those is set to premiere during the 2025 holiday season as a Bills-themed Christmas movie on “The Hallmark Channel.”
