First, star wide receiver Khalil Shakir agreed to a four-year contract extension, and on Friday, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane locked up another talented player when the Bills and linebacker Terrel Bernard agreed to an extension that will keep Buffalo’s team captain in Western New York through the 2029 NFL season.

Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by examining the news of Bernard’s four-year contract extension.

Bills, LB Terrel Bernard agree on contract extension

Since being selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Terrel Bernard has emerged as a crucial playmaker on Buffalo’s defense. Now, Bernard becomes the second member of Buffalo’s 2022 NFL Draft class to come to sign a contract extension with the Bills.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Kyle Brandt, Bernard’s four-year deal is worth $50 million, with $25.2 million guaranteed.

During the 2024 NFL season, Bernard’s first as team captain, he recorded 104 total tackles with two interceptions and one sack in 13 games. Bernard is a foundational piece on defense, and the signing frees up roughly $1.8 million in cap space for this year.
