The Bills don’t have anything on the line Sunday, but these players do have something to play for
Most of Bills Mafia understands there’s not much to play for when the Buffalo Bills take on the New England Patriots in the Week 18 — that is, other than bragging rights for the Bills to sweep the AFC East and draft pick positioning for the Patriots. But there are always incentives or streaks that come into play for individual players.
Josh Allen will start the game for the Bills to continue his consecutive game streak, he’s currently at 114 games (regular season and playoffs), and the offense as a whole has added incentive to be the first team in NFL history with 14 different players hauling in a touchdown reception. The Bills tied the record of 13 last week on wide receiver Tyrell Shavers’ touchdown reception against the New York Jets in the fourth quarter.
In addition, Sportrac list a host of additional player incentives that could be earned in Week 18, including:
- Wide receiver Mack Hollins needs two receptions to earn $50,000 and 74 yards to earn an additional $200,000
- Punter Sam Martin needs one punt inside the 20-yard line for a $100,000 bonus
- Safety Taylor Rapp needs one interception for $150,000
- Defensive end A.J. Epenesa needs two sacks for whopping $1 million bonus
If you haven’t already, check out our earlier article that laid out the details for edge rusher Von Miller, nickel cornerback Taron Johnson, tight end Dawson Knox, and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones closing in on their incentives as well. Each of these players are ultra competitive, so this just adds more fuel to their game to close out Week 18 of the NFL season.
