This isn’t for a specific game, but felt bad not doing something for Thanksgiving
Sure, football is a game, but it’s not just a game. Football is an experience. The kind of experience that goes better with a little food. If you’re a Buffalo Bills fan looking for something special to go with your game-day activities, Buffalo Rumblings has you covered!
For this bonus recipe, we continue the annual Thanksgiving tradition with...
Leftover Nuggies
When I was planning Wingin’ It this season, somehow I completely overlooked Thanksgiving, which has been a tradition for me. I didn’t want to swap out my recipe for the San Francisco 49ers game for a few reasons, so here we are with a bonus recipe.
Thanksgiving leftovers can be fantastic, but sometimes you might want to deviate just a bit from heat and eat. If you’re out shopping for the next holiday, pick up the one item below you may not have leftover and maybe give this a try.
Leftover nuggies
Serves: Variable
Active Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
Leftover turkey, chopped into chunks
All purpose flour
One or more eggs (depends on how much leftover turkey you want to use)
1 Tbsp hot sauce per egg
Turkey stuffing dry mix, crushed
You’ll need: high-wall fry pan, vegetable oil for cooking, three plates or shallow dishes for dredging, other leftovers for dipping
- Pour between one-quarter and a half-inch of oil into your frying pan; preheat on MED.
- Set up dredging stations using plates: One for flour, one for the egg and hot sauce mixed together, and the third for the crushed stuffing mix.
- Dredge turkey chunks in flour, then egg mix, then stuffing mix.
- Place thrice-dredged pieces carefully in hot oil; cook until stuffing coating browns completely, flipping occasionally, about 10 min.
Wingin’ It Tips and Prep Gallery
This is pretty simple and I’ve done dredge-and-fry recipes about 60 times before. In other words, this is perfect for getting a meal in while avoiding a laborious ordeal like the one we all just went through (worth it, but exhausting). For the gallery...
I don’t like to make people look for things even if I know I’ve shared it before, so here’s my “mortar and pestle” setup because I’m too cheap to actually buy one. That’s it. That’s my one tip. If you’re wondering about the oil level, the second photo will show that. The third picture is up above and I just really like how it came out so here it is again.
Alright, maybe one more tip. You likely have gravy, cranberry sauce, or even leftover mashed potatoes, for dipping.
