Bills HC Sean McDermott says the team is discussing next steps for Buechele, QB3 position
The Buffalo Bills had a rough outing this past Saturday, taking on the Chicago Bears at Highmark Stadium — a preseason tilt they ultimately dropped 33-6. Of chief concern for any team during the preseason is player health. Escape the game injury-free and very little else matters.
Unfortunately, that’s never a given in the NFL. During his press conference Monday afternoon, Bills head coach Sean McDermott revealed that quarterback Shane Buechele suffered a neck injury and will miss substantial time as he recovers.
McDermott: QB Shane Buechele hurt his neck in the game and is going to miss some time. Brandon Beane and I are discussing next steps. #Bills

It’s uncertain when Buechele was injured during Saturday’s game, but he finished the contest as the team’s third quarterback in the rotation. Buechele took a beating while on the field, enduring six punishing sacks en route to finishing 6-of-10 for 53 yards and one interception. Buechele also added three carries for 22 yards.
What direction the Bills take from here remains undefined. McDermott explained to reporters that he and general manager Brandon Beane are discussing next steps. Buffalo Rumblings will consider what those next steps might look like in a follow-up article. The hope is that Shane Buechele is going to be okay, and is able to resume his professional career with a clean bill of health.
