Plus, GM Brandon Beane explains why the team ate the “albatross” that was Stefon Diggs’ contract
The Buffalo Bills have boasted one of the NFL’s top defenses since head coach Sean McDermott took over in 2017, but following an offseason that saw the Bills say goodbye to defensive stalwarts like cornerback Tre’Davious White and safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, there are going to be plenty of new faces on Buffalo’s defense.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off with thoughts on Buffalo’s revamped defense and how McDermott will utilize some of the offseason acquisitions.
Thoughts on Buffalo’s revamped defense
While the Bills have lost long-term defensive staples like White, Poyer and Hyde, the team did add defensive depth across the board through the 2024 NFL Draft — including safety Cole Bishop, defensive tackle DeWayne Carter and defensive end Javon Solomon — and free agency — including safety Mike Edwards, defensive tackles Austin Johnson and DeShawn Williams and defensive end Casey Toohill. Now, it’s up to McDermott to figure out how to blend all of the new pieces with the returning talent on defense.
